Judge Norton is currently serving his second term as a Circuit Court Judge for the 28th Judicial Circuit (Baldwin County) after being elected in November 2012 and November 2018 without opposition. Judge Norton is originally from Port St. Joe, Florida and graduated from Troy State University in 1992 and from the Jones School of Law at Faulkner University in 1995.
He began practicing law in 1996 and served as an Assistant District Attorney for Alabama’s 5th Judicial Circuit. After moving to Baldwin County, he continued his service as an Assistant District Attorney for Alabama’s 28th Judicial Circuit Court. In 2002, he began practicing law with the firm of Wilkins, Bankester, Biles and Wynne, PA where he served as the city prosecutor for the Municipal Courts of Fairhope and Robertsdale, Alabama. He served as a Municipal and State Court prosecutor for virtually all of his legal career and has participated in approximately 100 criminal and civil jury trials, prior to taking the bench.
Judge Norton is a former partner of the law firm of Kopesky, Britt and Norton, LLC and was the co-owner of two real estate title insurance companies located in Baldwin County. Fairhope Title Services, Inc. and Baldwin Legal Title, LLC. His firm was awarded the 2011 Eastern Shore Small Business of the Year award by the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce. His successful law practice was very diverse and included residential and commercial real estate transaction law, civil litigation, domestic relations, probate/estate and criminal prosecution through his service with the Baldwin County District Attorney’s office.
Judge Norton resides in Daphne with his wife of 28 years, Laura Norton. In 2022, Judge Norton was recognized for distinguished service to the 28th Judicial Circuit of Alabama by the Jones School of Law at Faulkner University.
