Duties & Responsibilities

The Circuit Clerk serves as the court's “official record keeper” and business manager on all court proceedings held in the District and Circuit Courts.  While the Circuit Clerk serves as an administrative arm of the Court, the primary responsibilities are to maintain court records and manage the collection and disbursement of court funds for the court system with integrity and security at all times.

On a daily basis, the Circuit Clerk’s Office interacts with the public while managing court pleadings, collecting fines and fees, preparing subpoenas and issuing court notices for scheduled trials and hearings.  These court records are divided into ten different divisions that include Civil, Criminal, Domestic Relations, Child Support, Traffic, Juvenile and Warrants.  Jury management also falls under the duties of the Circuit Clerk.

Court records are electronically imaged making information more readily available to judges, clerks and the public.  Most trial court information may be obtained through www.alacourt.gov using the link “Just One Look” for On-Demand access to Alabama State Trial Court Records.  Please note the required fees for this service. Additional legal information and forms are available at www.alacourt.gov.

As a constitutional officer, the Circuit Clerk has the responsibility to serve on the Appointing Board and the Canvassing Board on county, state and federal elections for Baldwin County.
