Judge Laurie A. Hoyt is a Circuit Judge in Baldwin County. Judge Hoyt is a 2003 graduate of Spring Hill College where she earned a B.S.in Political Science. She attended Spring Hill College on an Academic Honors Scholarship and was a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, Political Science Honor Society.
Judge Hoyt graduated from Loyola Law School New Orleans in 2006 where she earned her Juris Doctorate. She was awarded the LaNasa-Greco Scholarship for Academic Achievement, served as a Legal Research and Writing Lab Assistant, and was the Articles Editor for Loyola Law and Technology Annual. Upon graduating from law school, Judge Hoyt worked for James Dorgan P.C. and then as an Assistant Attorney General for eighteen (18) years.
Judge Hoyt has dedicated her career to public service. She previously served as an Alabama Capitol Intern and clerked at the Attorney General’s Office where she was assigned to the Chief Assistant Attorney General to work with the Alabama Sentencing Commission.
Judge Hoyt was recently appointed by the Alabama Supreme Court to serve on the Supreme Court of Alabama’s Standing Committee on the Alabama Rules of Juvenile Procedure. Judge Hoyt is a member of the Republican party. She is an active member of the community, and she regularly volunteers at school functions, including serving as the past president of the PTO. She and her husband have three children and are members of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
